Holy Week at Village

Beginning on Palm Sunday, we invite you on a journey together through the Passion of our Lord Jesus, from his last Passover, through his betrayal and unjust trial, and on to the cross and tomb. We celebrate with what we call the Triduum, three services from Thursday to Saturday when, finally, we light the Christ candle and our “Alleluia’s” resound in anticipation of Easter morning. We hope you’ll join us.

 The Season of Lent

Lent marks the forty days leading up to Easter (excluding Sundays), beginning on Ash Wednesday, commemorating Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness. This season provides an opportunity to search ourselves, both individually and as the Church, in a posture of repentance. Lent concludes at sundown on the day before Easter, what we call the Great Vigil. Purple is the color of each penitential season.

Jesus, First & Always

We’re a congregation speaking to the challenges of a 21st century world while worshipping in the ancient, sacramental tradition. We rely upon centuries-old rhythms and emphases, with the Table of thanksgiving as our central act of worship. We welcome everyone to the Table to be blessed and all baptized believers to receive, knowing that we all come by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

We’d Love to Meet You

Turn onto Sizemore St. from Old Buncombe Rd. where guest parking is available just behind the church building, along with approximately 25 spaces. You can park along Sizemore or Buff St. or in our overflow parking across Old Buncombe at Blackstone's Garage. Be sure to stop by our welcome table just inside the main entrance where you can find more information and a welcome packet.

Let the Children Come

Village Church has a lot of kids! A newly-renovated, well-staffed nursery is available, with a parents room for nursing moms and grumpy littles. Age-appropriate classes provide a meaningful, fun lesson for K-5th graders. Our worship service is inclusive of children, particularly during Communion. It’s important for their spiritual nurture and for our vitality as a church. It's a blessing!
